For nearly a decade, Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation (THPF) has organized Tucson Modernism Week (TMW) - endeavoring to bring dynamic local, regional and national speakers, highlight hidden modernist treasures scattered throughout our community and present the insightful - and often overlooked - history of our region's mid-century heritage.
TMW Guide 2018 explores the iconic textile designs of Harwood (& Sophie) Steiger, furniture designer Max Gottschalk, and the work of Bernard Friedman - a Jewish architect - who influenced the character ot Tucson's commercial and civic architecture (including THPF's Historic Hirsh's Shoes Building, also home of Sunshine Shop Tucson).
Since 2015, Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation has annually published the Tucson Modernism Week Guide.
